Meet George

George is such an attraction here at Blue Hen Farm that we’ve given him his own page!

Our Loveable Llama George

What can we tell you about George?

George is a Llama which is part of the camelid family.  Llama’s are known to be ferocious predator control, but not our George.  He’s all about the love!

George was born with a genetic deformity leaving him with serious overlapping knock knees.  When George came to the farm he was pretty raggedy.  He had never been sheared, he was underweight, his teeth were severely overgrown, his hooves were so bad they were almost growing back into his feet, ouch!  We brought in a master shearer who cleaned George up for the first time in his life. George was so proud.  He could eat properly for the first time in a very long time.  And despite poor George’s “noodle legs” he started to STRUT!  For the first few days George was a little surprised at his newly “naked sheared” body.  He still wanted to greet everyone but he kept looking at his backside as if to say “where’s my wool coat”?

Today George is the Blue Hen Farm Ambassador.  Everyone who meets George loves George and in turn he is simply himself and loves them back!

Come out to Blue Hen Farm, George is waiting to meet you!
